Clive Robbins

As a student at New York University, it was easy to draw inspiration simply from living in a bustling place like Manhattan. I was doubly inspired every Thursday night, when I would spend a few hours at the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Center, taking a seminar with Clive Robbins. He would play clips of his work with young children with disabilities, and explain how music transformed their lives. Through the sparkle in his eyes, it was clear that this work transformed his life as well.

I don’t know of anyone who met Clive who wasn’t deeply touched by him. His lectures were moving, his work was magical, and his legacy will live on through the students he was selflessly teaching each week and the clients he helped.
Clive passed away last winter, and this past weekend during graduation there was a celebration of his life for the music therapy community.
