Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy interventions are designed to meet nonmusical goals of clients in a variety of settings.
Kate Beever is a board certified music therapist with a masters in music therapy from New York University. She interned at Beth Israel’s Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine assisting with research projects, and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center facilitating group and individual music therapy sessions with patients of all ages. Now back in her home state of Maine, her work focuses on teens and adults with cancer, cerebral palsy, brain injury, trauma, developmental disabilities, depression and dementia. She presents at conferences through Southern Maine and performs regularly as a percussionist and pianist. She is also a certified HealthRhythms facilitator.
